Pretentious Game Ideas is a monthly-ish game design podcast I hosted with my friends Rob Giusti and Ryan Anderson. We started the podcast in 2016 as an excuse to engage in regular deep-dive conversations about game design among ourselves.

Skulldug! is a pulp adventure-themed exploration board game. Players take on the role of adventurers searching for treasure in the treacherous depths of an uncharted cave. You take turns discovering squares of the board by drawing from a deck of terrain cards.

The Spirit of Giving

The Spirit of Giving is a card game that I designed for a game jam in December 2013 that is played with a traditional 52-card deck and a stack of Post-It notes.
Asterogue

Asterogue is a mobile brawler that combines procedural dungeons with an innovative gesture-based combat system. As you progress through the game’s 3 distinct worlds, you collect an arsenal of procedurally-generated weapons and abilities that are dropped by your foes.
Hokranoid

An homage to Ramiro Corbetta’s abstract indie soccer title Hokra. Hokranoid takes that same concept of two teams passing, tackling, and shooting their way to victory and puts its own Breakout-tinged spin on it.

Snakeman Tries His Best

Snakeman Tries His Best is an arcade-style shoot-em-up that I created to teach myself Unity during Global Game Jam 2012. The player controls the immortal Snakeman, who has dedicated himself to saving malnourished human prisoners from their robotic oppressors.
